Great culture chapter five, Boniface maiyani

The southern kingdom though were silent were wiser. They were silent due to the way their leader had organized them. They knew that still waters ran deep and they never judged a book by its cover.

Also, it is said that long time ago, their fore fathers had produce many wise men. They had a man who was known as Kerubo who could foretell the future. His prophecy had always come to happen and there was no doubt that he was a man of great honour He once foretold that a great famine would occur after an ample harvest.

People benefitted greatly in that they preserved their produce well to cater their needs during the dry spell. Also, Kerubo just like other famous men had the know-how of judging two conflicting people. He would pour oil on cold waters where he found that people were not agreeing with one another. This vividly shows that Kerubo was a cool man who loved peace and stability. So were the other members of their community.

Kerubo actually made sure that the other southern kingdom is always wise and would remain in peace forever. Perhaps, this tries to explain why the folks in the southern kingdom are always wise. The southern kingdom had a spy in our community who was not known for a long time. Rumours say that the man came to our community used to engage in trade with the southern folks.

People from the southern were farmers and always exchanged their agricultural produce with animals in our society. During this trade people had designated places which were set out for the auction. People would go back to their geographical region after the activity was over and no one was supposed to be in his partner territory, unless under unavoidable situation. For instance, such as when there were floods which would make it impossible to travel to as floods were feared for drowning people.

It is said that one day a great rain rained cats and dogs enough to fill up all the tributaries of river Oloidimari. People were allowed to stay in our region and that may be how the man remained in our society. The spy was versatile and had the entire motive to take the message to his people that war was being prepared against them.

As if to add salt to an injury, the man told his folks the weapons his that our community was intending to use. This among many others factors led to the amelioration of their large loyal army. This happened in two days for the southern kingdom were well organized.

Lapuroni had all the unfortunate reasons of not discovering that and that is why he never had improvement in his army. The southern folks too were ready to defend their tribe against any internal or foreign aggression. But of course, losing was not anything to think of but something planned well to escape it seducing sweet and soft tongue. This made the southerners to raise their nose and breathe the high air.

The southern folks divided themselves in to two groups. This was a reflection of their organization and how manageable they were. The two groups were selected according to the activity each group was to carry.

The first group was for those who would be cooking food for the fighters. The other group, obviously, would be composed of those who were to confront Lapuroni own army.

The subgroups were also formed from the group of those who were to cook. They would cook then another subgroup was to transport food to where the fighters were in their hide outs.

These were supposed to be Apollo’s and amazons who seemed to be daring enough to act at any situation which was likely to call for their attention. The other people who were to remain inactive were interned in one area so as that the intruders would not be able to intrude them.

This group comprises the old, children, the sick, all the other people who had some form of disabilities. Such a group also had to have some signs of showing that they were not to participate in the war. They were to have some white piece of cloth and a calabash which was artistically decorated with black and red colours.

This would help to show that they were not participating in the in the said war. However, this was not a sure way of defending oneself for at times such rituals were always ignored. But again to prevent is better than curing.

With these thoughts in mind, this group also too had to have some security and that is why the leader of the southern people gave them some weapons so that they would use to intimidate the intruders where the need would arise.

With all this preparations the leader of the southern people broke into a prayer. “My god, my god I pray, I pray That we shall, we shall have victory Oh lord of Kerubo! Oh lord of my folks! We have always lived in believing you. We know by your powers Everything shall be done. Almighty creator Bless us with your fulfilling’s benedictions Also some women sang outside their huts to encourage the warriors of the community to gather bits of valour and attack the invading intruders.

So up to this moment the southern people were as fit as a fiddle and ready for the war. All that remained was praying to the creator so that they would have victory.
