Great culture chapter seven, Boniface maiyani, the battlefield

The area received both frontal and relief rainfall hence this made it to be a meadow. Due to the area being covered by green grass which included the elephant grass from the family hyparrhenia and cymbopogon afronardus; the southern community had taken the of utilization of the available home resources.

They hid themselves in the partly sod-forming grasses which were found in open areas. The tussocky grass that tufty provided a hiding place to those under some short, umbrella shaped acacia trees with their leaves reduced to thorns. Their mode of dressing was an added advantage since it was just difficult to differentiate between the warriors and the grass.

The tufty grass made the warriors from our community to walk with difficulty. Some grass had some effect since they scratched our warriors in the scorching sun. All this were the fake reasons that may be our warriors would use if given some time to say the cause of their defeat.

Most of our warriors kicked the bucket before they recognised the hidden trick. The warriors from southern community camouflaged themselves with green grass that when they were walking one would not imagine that a mortal thing was covered under. In fact, just calling a spade a spade, it looked extraordinary since most of them were astonished for they had never seen such a method. This only happens in modern movies video as seen in LANG MEI movie and LAST MAN STANDING, especially those vietnamese movies.

This methodology seemed to be elementary to some of them; especially those who were recruited recently. The shortcoming was that our warriors would be seen from far since they had won clothes, which were visible in day light.

They had shukas, which were red. It took quite a good lengthy of time before they realized the method of using the green grass. However, the time they realised Lapuroni gave as an order that anything green seen moving should be cleared or speared from far.

However, alas! This would not have solved their problems since most of their corpses lay in the battlefield. Blood had collected enough to form small affluent. The southern people way of killing someone was a bit thrilling since they had many procedures.

First, they would pierce the warriors eyes (but this is terrible) then they would stone him to death (thinking of Lot’s wife- yes you should.)More often, it seemed they were using the hot-tempered Mosaic policy of stoning someone as vividly explained in the Holy Christian Bible. They would do it faster and accurately, as they were capable since a specific site was used.

There and then, blood would always gush from someone throat and into the thirsty ground. The scene was actually terrifying since like all of our soldiers were lying down in a sea of blood. After being butchered and maimed, their corpses would remain mute and lifeless, with disoriented eyes that seemed to ask why. In fact, some looked as if they were in the ARMS OF MORPHEUS.

Supposing you had a chance of eye witnessing the grotesque situation, aphonia would be a NINES DAY WONDER talk about you by people to have taken over your senses. The area smelt of death and destruction. It had started smelling, stinking like nobody’s business. A whole flight of flies had conquered the atmosphere and here I know you would not hesitate of thinking the plagues in Pharaoh-Moses encounter. It did rain on a certain evening and that made the already bad situation worse. Chemistry; blood in water or water in blood. Mind you, any would be suitable.

The foul smell that was invading the region was more than that the odour that came from an untreated sewage. Lapuroni thought that the war would be ephemeral. However, after what seemed like a wild goose chase Lapuroni decided and thought about giving in to the opponents. Though his warriors had attempted to kill the warriors from the southern region, he had to obey their home advantage.

Finally, Lapuroni became intimidated and he shouted at the highest order. This was so carefully planned just to draw the attention of the southerners. Meanwhile, the southerners were heavily pondering of his whereabout and here he was busy exposing himself. His prayers were answered. This time it was very quick. It happened. He was besieged using the buffalo invasions method.

When he looked around, he saw a clique of warriors advancing to where he was from all the possible directions. Lapuroni became frightened like MACBETH BEFORE THE GHOST of BANGUO.      Impromptu. Since he had remained an altruist to his people, he and other warriors ran towards the southern folks in order to intimidate them. They were all shocked and flabbergasted when they discovered that none of the southern soldiers showed white feathers.

Lapuroni’s thought of retreating was well apprehended by the southern soldiers. They all ran towards him. As a matter of facts, he and his warriors were ordered to put down their weapons. They therefore had to raise their arms after they were through with kneeling down.

He was captured after he decided to surrender into the hands of the opponents. All the warriors were slained. Other warriors, from our tribe, who were watching from far ran back to our home village as fast as they could. They had a lot to tell the rest. It was so pitiful to be pleasant. There were weeps’ and shouts all over, my son, my son.   As usual, prominent figures in the society were not supposed to be killed by warriors. It was believed their spirit would haunt such a warrior who would raise his hands and kill the prominent figure. Those too much tales surrounding such an act were always impregnated with fearful thoughts that after-killing events that none has ever been killed by warrior. Those misfortune foretold were even heavy enough to comfortably be accommodated on a warriors back.

Therefore, with this in the warriors mind, all left the work to their leader who looked so innocent that one could think that he couldn't even kill a fly. But judging book by its cover is what we have just  done. The leader walked to the ground that Lapuroni stood. First of all, he became more of a comic when he slapped him. Lapuroni groaned in pain but he would dare do nothing. He wished the earth would open up and swallow him only to come back like a bainely. However, cracks happening on the ground were as impossible as having the Kilimanjaro topple over.

“Why you not responding to greetings buddy. You thought this is a free land where you just come and impose your rules like a kitchen without a cook.  Today I will help you  to visits the land of no return. When you arrive there tell them the world became smaller for you that you could not accommodate yourself."The leader asked in a tone likely to suggest he was very furious.

Lapuroni shivered that the earth below and grasses seemed as if they were dancing SALSA.  The leader from the southern region looked up and down. The gesture that was suggesting that he was praying for the safety of safeness. He ordered his warriors to scatter in order to avoid Lapuroni’s blood splashing on them. He was to be butchered mercilessly. In addition, supposing he would have won, he would have done the same to his opponent. The yoke was ready and after they all disappeared,    his head was restrained in between the yoke.

The leader held his knife and chopped Lapuroni’s neck, which sends the head obeying newton’s  first law of gravity. His bodies did the once easy but hard task- breakdance. Of course, Lapuroni’s error was over. It was never to be seen again. It had all gone for good. He was to be an ancestor but now he was a living dead.

The southern folks had proved to be invincible as chewing gum. He was recorded in the tkirrir Oley, which is comparable to today’s Guinness book of world records. Our community too had learnt how to live with the other community in the hard way, which by matter of facts it was the only way.

The warriors from our community who had escaped, when they were interviewed said that the scenario left behind in the southern folk was not worth remembering.

The regicide had even worsened the situation for it made them to be confused like the BABEL as so clearly depicted in the Old Testament.   I take this opportunity to send my utmost condoloscences to those who encountered FRATRICIDE in the battlefield. It hurting but it will always remain unturned, come sun, come rainfall.

Back in our community, everything was all set. Lapuroni decided to carry out his plans. He pointed out the departure time, which was to be told to the warriors by the leader of the raid.

This time back, Lapuroni did not announce the departure time by himself. This is because Lapuroni was actually doing some preparations which were secret. They were not supposed to be known by any Joe blogs since they were meant for the king and the king only.

The following morning, the raid leader had to sing the reveille. This was to ensure that the warriors were well prepared so that they would not be making bricks without straw.

Also for those who were encountering baptism of fire, were to use this chance to ask their accomplices on how to cope with the alien situation. The warriors were to remind each other not to breach their promise, which they had been told by Lapuroni.

As usual, Lapuroni’s archers were singing their war song in which all the lines had encouragement information. They were all armed with sophisticated weapons which ranged from spears, swords, shields, catapult, sling, and many wooden rungus.

They all sang to call the gods of victory to pay them this wanted courtesy visits which for the moment was important and need like life. They needed extra energy to use when dealing with the opponents, and this too, they were to overcome the lethargy.

The archers were heavily attired with helmets, armour and all this was to ensure protections of them. The southern kingdom was located to the south of our geographical position. This meant that they had to leave at dawn crack so that they would arrive at dusk. The distance to the boundary took a whole eleven hours.

They trotted slowly so that they would not arrive early. They climbed hills, descended and ascended valleys changed their tortuous whenever they found a cliff until they finally arrived at the boundary. From far, the boundary had an appearance of a highly forested with tall trees which formed three distinct canopies.

The boundary had a river, which was not as large as river Oloidimari or Nabebek Rivers. One could observe the black water of the river flowing in a snaky movement down its downstream. There was a cool weather, which was enveloping the atmosphere as the sun was now setting; as on its usual journey it would rise in the morning from the east and set lately in the evening on the western sides. Here the raid leader had to order the warriors to gather up so that they ask for guidance and protection from their ancestors while together. However, it is known that a single finger cannot kill a fly.

They would then be embolden and given the directions of which they were supposed to follow. They were divided into groups of fifties, which too gave birth to seven groups. They were to wait until dawn so that they would start an arson activity. Midnight darkness made them to be somnolent but none would try to sleep.

An hour before dawn the sky began to glow. Perhaps a volcanic dust in the atmosphere was emitting heat or some trick of temperature was bending the sun’s rays to create a false dawn.

It was so false to be true that dawn had arrived. The entire warriors got ready to start the strife but the rebel leader warned them that dawn had not finally come yet. Some started seeing as if that was an omen from their ancestors that they should stop fighting, however, because they feared Lapuroni they all remained silent.

Who would dare say this and escape his wrath? Who would be brave enough to associate himself with the scorn from the people and face seclusion? Of course, only a coward or a fool could afford the tenacity to say, we shall be defeated. When drawn cracked, al the respective groups parted and as unison agreed their motto was, ENDEAVOUR TO KILL BEFORE YOU ARE KILLED.

Their motto encouraged them to fight tooth and nail. At first, the place look deserted because empty building would be seen in the dark dawn. Humidity had absolutely gathered in the atmosphere and had reduced visibility to only a kilometre length.

The hamlet in the village was visible due the fact that the terrain of this region was hilly, mountainous and a great valley occupied its northern side.

The valley had some hills and mountains, which were high making them chilly most of the time as its boundary. However, at the valley bottom, the rays emitted from the sun combined with the terrestrial radiation made the atmosphere warmer and hotter.

The temperature was always hot that you could have thought that the sun and terrestrial rays were eager to make a furnace like atmosphere.

Great culture chapter five, Boniface maiyani

The southern kingdom though were silent were wiser. They were silent due to the way their leader had organized them. They knew that still waters ran deep and they never judged a book by its cover.

Also, it is said that long time ago, their fore fathers had produce many wise men. They had a man who was known as Kerubo who could foretell the future. His prophecy had always come to happen and there was no doubt that he was a man of great honour He once foretold that a great famine would occur after an ample harvest.

People benefitted greatly in that they preserved their produce well to cater their needs during the dry spell. Also, Kerubo just like other famous men had the know-how of judging two conflicting people. He would pour oil on cold waters where he found that people were not agreeing with one another. This vividly shows that Kerubo was a cool man who loved peace and stability. So were the other members of their community.

Kerubo actually made sure that the other southern kingdom is always wise and would remain in peace forever. Perhaps, this tries to explain why the folks in the southern kingdom are always wise. The southern kingdom had a spy in our community who was not known for a long time. Rumours say that the man came to our community used to engage in trade with the southern folks.

People from the southern were farmers and always exchanged their agricultural produce with animals in our society. During this trade people had designated places which were set out for the auction. People would go back to their geographical region after the activity was over and no one was supposed to be in his partner territory, unless under unavoidable situation. For instance, such as when there were floods which would make it impossible to travel to as floods were feared for drowning people.

It is said that one day a great rain rained cats and dogs enough to fill up all the tributaries of river Oloidimari. People were allowed to stay in our region and that may be how the man remained in our society. The spy was versatile and had the entire motive to take the message to his people that war was being prepared against them.

As if to add salt to an injury, the man told his folks the weapons his that our community was intending to use. This among many others factors led to the amelioration of their large loyal army. This happened in two days for the southern kingdom were well organized.

Lapuroni had all the unfortunate reasons of not discovering that and that is why he never had improvement in his army. The southern folks too were ready to defend their tribe against any internal or foreign aggression. But of course, losing was not anything to think of but something planned well to escape it seducing sweet and soft tongue. This made the southerners to raise their nose and breathe the high air.

The southern folks divided themselves in to two groups. This was a reflection of their organization and how manageable they were. The two groups were selected according to the activity each group was to carry.

The first group was for those who would be cooking food for the fighters. The other group, obviously, would be composed of those who were to confront Lapuroni own army.

The subgroups were also formed from the group of those who were to cook. They would cook then another subgroup was to transport food to where the fighters were in their hide outs.

These were supposed to be Apollo’s and amazons who seemed to be daring enough to act at any situation which was likely to call for their attention. The other people who were to remain inactive were interned in one area so as that the intruders would not be able to intrude them.

This group comprises the old, children, the sick, all the other people who had some form of disabilities. Such a group also had to have some signs of showing that they were not to participate in the war. They were to have some white piece of cloth and a calabash which was artistically decorated with black and red colours.

This would help to show that they were not participating in the in the said war. However, this was not a sure way of defending oneself for at times such rituals were always ignored. But again to prevent is better than curing.

With these thoughts in mind, this group also too had to have some security and that is why the leader of the southern people gave them some weapons so that they would use to intimidate the intruders where the need would arise.

With all this preparations the leader of the southern people broke into a prayer. “My god, my god I pray, I pray That we shall, we shall have victory Oh lord of Kerubo! Oh lord of my folks! We have always lived in believing you. We know by your powers Everything shall be done. Almighty creator Bless us with your fulfilling’s benedictions Also some women sang outside their huts to encourage the warriors of the community to gather bits of valour and attack the invading intruders.

So up to this moment the southern people were as fit as a fiddle and ready for the war. All that remained was praying to the creator so that they would have victory.

GREAT culture chapter four, Boniface maiyani

As a tradition, before war would begin, member of our community had to be asked to offer assistance in order to make the war active and lively.

Lapuroni, with his protruding nose likely to grasp all the air in the vicinity, was as usual contrary to the people. He never asked people to join hands but gave it as an order. Was he like serious surely? In fact, he was double on this. That’s why he was once quoted saying the following words.

                  “People of my community,

I want to make you famous”

He said with an almost deafening sound.                    “…in order to do that  ...war…  Southern must be taught a lesson”

He blotted out producing those eyes that could send a snow into melting.

“You must give me a helping hand,                      Conquer is the way … way of the high leaders,                     Those tall and brown men, Will call my name like it’s a nice meal.”He said this in a voice that seemed to be requesting.

At that incessant time Lapuroni thought of how about choosing a specialist who would perform a ritual aimed at finding whether they would win the strife.

Lapuroni at times sought advice from the village elders but never did that when he is under the influence of ignorance. This time back, he overcame the ignorantia influence and sought help from the village elders. The elders decided to advise him to choose a bull without blemish.

A bull without blemish was chosen from the rest. The bull had to be slaughtered the following morning at the crack of dawn. A bull without blemish was selected from the rest for they were believed to be totally pure and free   from any forms of misfortunes.

The following morning when the rituals were performed it brought a positive result. What the specialist does cannot be told by any tom, dick and harry you would ever come across. Actually, it is under the scope of my knowhow.

Lapuroni was in all jovial moods as after the results were announced to him he was overheard singing the following songs. He actually shivered with delight, moreover self-congratulations.

“Blessed is the man who always …

… Who always tries to find a solution to his

           Disturbing problems?”

          “Victory will always,

Come after, a rage of a,

           Rage of a spear.

         Oh! Oh! Oh!”

       “Bless is the specialist,

Who always foretell the good fortunes”

      “Blessed is the man,

      The man who never fears,

To do what he wants to do.”

“This is why the people,  The people from the south,  Will know who I am?”Lapuroni was as sure as the sun would finally set today that he would achieve victory with such an ease that he even did not wonder how this would materialize.

He was sure all this would come to happen since he had this indubitable attitude that specialist were always true and sincere in their work. As if to make him cycle in the sky, it was clear that no such rituals performed had ever backslidden.

" Lapuroni need to be remembered some facts in life. These are none other than,

a)Do not whistle till you are out of the woods

 b)Man is to error

c)Don’t count your chicks before they are hatch….”

A village elder was heard complaining. This to Lapuroni was the mere prayers a hen prays against the eagle.

So many ancient tales surround this but biology also has a place in this. To balance nature a whole food chain must be completed.

He was seconded by his fellow elder, who said that,’’you see after the specialist had herald that the victory would come easy, an ear –to- ear smile appeared on Lapuroni once grave face.

His eyes grew wider with excitement leaving his nose bulging out as if he wanted to breathe the environments pure natural air to himself. His mouth remained wide open exposing a set of coffee brown, stained teeth, were sharp and long.

May be all this would be paid back with an astonishing defeat. How could he not focus up?”      Some other villagers also said that it was the first time that he had tried to giggle. Lapuroni had always tried to be serious so that people would know that he was a man of know jokes.

After all this was over it came to Lapuroni time to finalize the matter. Usually before war there were usually some tasks which were supposed to be fulfilled and don by reigning leader.

At times people would not believe that there was going to be any war since there were double sure that winning was a matter impossible like collecting diamond at the mwandui mines at shinyanga.

Lapuroni decided to appoint the leader of the raid, who would inveigle many warriors to join in the cattle raid. Many warriors would be required, so, Lapuroni had to choose someone who was famous in warfare activities.

A warrior who was daring and had killed a lion was the suitable one. The chosen leader was to be given the title Olaiguanani.  Raiding in our community was taken as a leisure activity, so almost all the youths agreed to participate in the raid. This was actually what Lapuroni had been waiting.

He would even give you a heifer if you would have told him that he was to have the support of all the youths in our community. Of course any one can be happy, so why not our own Lapuroni? An opportunity such as that were his top most expectations.

His task was now to try and organize them well so that they would not let him down. The raid leader who was chosen was also a failure in some aspects.      He was unable to gather all the youth and discuss technical issue like how well they would behave when in the alien environment.

The man was chosen because of his physical qualities without even thinking about the unseen qualities such as knowledge, wise decisions and organizing power. Never the less the warriors also had a reward had they come out a successful punitive expedition. They would become richer for they would come out with a large heard of cattle from the invaded society.

The warriors would also be given the maximum respect that they deserved. However, they were supposed to respect the elderly in the society since they were and deserved to be respected. Too, they had to hold a ceremony which was called Eunoto.

This was a warrior graduation ceremony which was to plaster their heads with cow dung and also had to drink blood which was row and readily gushing from an animal’s cut throat. They would also get an opportunity to get married to their loved ones.

Great culture chapter three, Boniface maiyani

Not so long, after an age passed, Lapuroni

wanted to prove himself a real man. He was

carried by the Dunkirk spirit which always

lasted in a person memory for not more than

 three weeks.

Lopejo, wanted to be known since though the

community was rich and wealthy, he was not

recognized by many other communities. The

water that came from the waterfall was

enough to flow into the other community

territory without decreasing; hence the other

community would remain clustered in their

 matrimonial territory.

The fact that Lopejo rules was over, Lapuroni

never organized cattle raiding and so our

community did not come into collision with

 any other tribe.

There was also a good and a peaceful

period of time which perhaps gave a chance

to communities to go back and re arm their

arsenals. The above were the external and

internal reasons that precipitated the act of

Lapuroni wanting to prove himself a man.

Contrary to the usual way, Lopejo did not

wage war against the people from the east

but decided to wage with the men from the

south. The people from the east had become

less rich and had no enough wealth as our

society had. They were inflicted with a

 pandemic disease which made their

territorial boundary to be avoided and be

 feared like ghosts.

A contagious disease which affected both

animals and human beings had invaded the

community and claimed a lot of lives in their

area. I’m always fond of comparing the

shortcomings of the disease with that of the

1945 bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Lapuroni had forgotten that the people from

the south  were a hard nut as he was

fascinated by the fact that he wanted to be

paramount and be recognized by many.

People who wanted to debar the war said

that Lapuroni would be between Scylla and

 Charybdis.

The southern folks were well organized

though they never wanted to show it off.

They were just hiding white to the other

people so if I would put it out. If Lapuroni

would accept the proverbial saying that still

water run deep he would be in a better position of enjoying his creator grautis life.

The folks from the southern had not

engaged in any war in the last few past

decades and Lapuroni thought that he had

gotten a way of showing off himself. “If he

was wise enough he would not have thought

about war. This leader totally needs someone

to advise him before he tries to swallow coals

of fire when red hot. He is actually moving

from the frying pan into the fire. " This was

the direct speech that was quoted from mzee

 loguka’s own mouth words.

Someone is asking, where are his advisors? I

too don’t know.   The southern people had

earlier on pulverized the people from the

akili moja area. The people from akili moja

area had no one to blame since they were the

course. They killed two people from the

southern community who were found in the

 boundary between the two communities.

This made the two communities to exchange

 arms.

The southern people is a miscellaneous

group consisting of the porojo, the warevu

and the wakwao. The warevu assimilated the

rest since they were the majority. Their

language being not hackneyed is perhaps

 explained by the previous line.

Lapuroni was really trying to be a

wiseacre but he never knew that one man

meat is another man’s poison. Lapuroni in

this all was waiting for the war to begin. One

morning, Cheren , her wife woke up and told

him that she had dreamt of his husband being

killed and other warriors being murdered

with an exception of those who escaped  back

to their villages. Your guess is as good as mine and I hope you just guessed

correctly.  Our ruler neglected his wife dream after he hardened his heart. Woo unto him!

To Cheren this was an ambition already turn

sour. She was amazed. How could he possibly

not listen to me? It’s true that if wishes were

horse people would be living in the other

 planets.

Of course, he said that dreams are not true.

Supposing we all dreamt that we were reach

everyone in our vicinity. Would that happen

without our prior effort? However, since

however hard people would try to mix

immiscible liquids and they couldn’t mix,

Cheren cautioned him not to involve himself

in any kind of war as that would mark his

immature end on this planet of trouble and joy.

Cheren had all the problems on mother earth

on her back. Removing something already set

on Lapuroni mind was not as easy as

chewing a piece of Britannia biscuits. More

so to say, stepping on an egg and cracking it

open to expose the inside contents.  While in

campus, I remember we would say" whether

the quail eggs fell on balls, or balls fell on the

quail eggs, the quail eggs must break", bishop

 of hope okung ndege sirkal.

Watch out for part four, it's coming back and better,.    Please share for others to read too, thanks in advance.    do you know that sharing this could help young and upcoming leaders of the world. This novel will act old , but reflect the current happenings in the day to day World.

Great culture chapter two, by Boniface Maiyani

                       CHAPTER TWO

The region has been led by several leaders but

the most prominent one was Lopejo. Lopejo was a

tall, energetic, handsome, black skinned, wise and

brave man. He had shanty, unkempt hair which

 was as black as charcoal.

Apart from Lopejo, the region has also been led by

other leaders such as Saruni, Lorok and Lapuroni.

Saruni was said to have helped our community to

tender a large herd of cattle and flock of sheep

during his reign. He was a man of principles and

was ready to listen to any one. But this!!!!!  The

animals became fewer once a great drought enveloped the vicinity.

The drought was severe that it made all the animals

that it made all the animals lay topsy-turvy; a scene

denoted from the looks of carcasses. Saruni was

now hated for people said he was a lummox and

had annoyed the ancestral spirits. Another claim

was that since he married from a neighboring

community, a social activity which was greatly

discouraged by our community proved that he was

putting too much food in the mouth than he could

 chew.

Lorok was black as his name suggest. He was

different from Saruni in that he had many wives

which were from our community. Lorok had many

children such that it was difficult for him to master

all of them. He must have suffered a great loss

since any young man or lady would request the

father to child attention which he had no guts of

refusing. They would be enveloped under the

pretext that they were his children.    However,

Lorok had to cope with all this since at times it was

unavoidable. It was too difficult to be easy for

Lorok to distinguish among his children.

Furthermore,   this was directly counted as a

 blessing from our creator.

He led the people to of our community in peace till

he joined his forefathers in their comfortable home

of no return.     The other leader was Lapuroni. His

name means that he was a thief and that is why

not so many people liked him. In fact if research

were conducted it could only be shown that it was

his closest men who were always ready to support

him in exercising his ambitious, greedy corrupt

 leadership.

He got the leadership ties through theft as it was

his younger brother who was supposed to be the

next ruler. He never had the lack of ruling people

for long like his predecessor prominent Lopejo.

Lapuroni would organize raids of cattle to the

nearby community who were less powerful. In so

doing, Lapuroni, made our community to have a

warlike tradition. Lapuroni was also a singer and a

harpist. During his leisure time, he would sing

many songs which were about war, love,

leadership and also the environment. These songs

were sung when the prescribed activity was taking

place. A song of war was always sang by Lapuroni had the following lines.

 Come ------come ----- come,

Come --- come --- come my people,                             Let’s go defend our land.

Chorus,

you and I, are united by the fact,                              That we are all tribes mates.

 Come,

Come my folks, let’s go and defend our land.

                           Please! Please! My commander,

Ensure that you are well equipped,

With deadly weapons from our kedong,                     Arsenal.

We must show them that we are,                            Brave than lions, and that they are,                               Cowards like hyenas.

Other songs such as love songs were sang when a woman was being led to the Altar. Leadership songs were sang when a new chief was being given the leadership position.

Lapuroni was hot tempered. When he was

furious, even his closest buddy would not try to

mollify him. Everybody knew the ultimate.

Tyrannical!  One would be fined either a steer or

pay two ewe. Of course this was inhumane! He

would remain mute and dump as though he had

his nose cut and hen’s beak attached instead. His

commander was only allowed to be beg him to go

and be in the arms of Morpheus when time to rest

his body which now was increasing at an

 astonishing volume arrived.

However making Lapuroni raise his back was as

difficult as having the Sahara desert reforested in a

single day. It would happen but only when

something very detesting happened. One fine

morning, as it is said, Lapuroni woke up and

organized a fight with the people from the east

who were a hostile desert tribe. People from the

east were tall, brown folks. People now started

hating him for organizing such raids when

everyone was busy concentrating on how best they

could increase the number of flocks.

In our community, one was actually recognized by

the number of animals he had. Everybody was

now asking the creator God to provide us with a

leader who would rule with justice and equality.

They anticipated him to never organize war with

any folks. Whenever elders would stand in a

gathering and give speech, it was always revered

and no one would turn his head away from their

sentiments.   An old man who was wiser gathered

people one fine morning and told them that their

Lord Almighty, their sustainer and provider had

 heard their prayers.

A young man, who would be their leader, is sent to

the people so as to rule them. This statement made

the people ears to be gravitated towards the old

man. He went further and noted that the man

would help them tend their livestock well an

increase them to a large number.

Activities such as cattle raiding would be counted

as useless activity.      All were glad to hear his

gooey words that left everybody smiling happily

with a package of expectations. He added that the

young man would not need any grouchy person as

this would make him lose all his wisdom. He had to

be pious so as to make his entire dream come to

 happen.

He was to have cavalry which was to defend the

region from external aggression and an infantry to

annihilate any rebellion that would arise in his

territorial boundary. Rebels who would refuse to

capitulate, once put behind the bars, would either

be killed or sold as slaves whichever the young

man would put across. The people came into a

conclusion that the description of the young man

was eligible.    They summed up the gathering by

agreeing with the adage saying where there is a

 will there is a way.

Great culture chapter one, Boniface maiyani

                                   CHAPTER ONE

Our  small  village,  famously  known  for  its  way of leadership  and  its  means  of  livelihood,  is situated  in  a  place  between  two  rivers.  The  two rivers  are  known  by  their  specific  epithets .

The  one  that  carries  more  water  is  called Oloidimari  which  means  something  that  is  able to  go  by  itself.  This  river  supply  water  to  the people  living  in  the  path  and  ways  it  takes. Also,  a  good  number  of  wild  beasts;  name them, buffaloes,  giraffes,  elephant,  do find  it  to  be  very  important.  The  other  river  is  the  one  that carries  less  water.  It  is  nicknamed  Nabebek which  means  something  that  is  not  strong

It  provides  an  abode  to  animals  such  as  reptiles  and  Pisces.  Reptiles  such  as  crocodiles have  made  this  section  of  the  river  to  be greatly  feared  by  many  people  and  animals. Even  though, there  are  fish  and  other  edible crustaceans  in  this  river  they  are  not  useful since  it  is  a  taboo  to  feed  on  such  animals.

The  two  rivers  converge  at  a  place  where  there are  many  stones.  The  confluence  of  these  two rivers  is  a  great  waterfall.  Too,  the  waterfall  has  been  nicknamed  and it  is  known  as Nayoloki.  This  means  something  that  is  famous.

The  waterfall  is  believed  to  have  been  formed many  years  that  have  passed,  preferably  the Precambrian  period.  Rumours  as  always  known, say  that  a  great  earthquake  occurred  in  one  fine  evening.  It  was  so  strong  that  it  made people  standing  to  tremble  like  a  chameleon  on a  frail  twig.

The  following  day  people  were  welcomed  by  the  misty  and  gaggling  sound  of  splashing water.  They  were  glad  to  discover  that  a  great waterfall  had  been  formed.  The  person  who  first  saw  this  was  given  the  name  Nadolisho which  literally  means  a  person  who  can  see.

The  waterfall  when  viewed  from  far  looks  like clouds  drifting  across  in  the  sky.  It  is  as  high  as  it  is  and  water  journeys  to  the  floor  in  a huge  mass  in  two  different  styles.  From  the  wee  hours  till  noon  most  of  its  water  is  poured on  the  right  side.  It  is  from  then  up  to  the  wee hours  that  the  waterfall  vomits  its  water  on  the left  side.

The  waterfall  canalize  the  river  making  it scarier  to  use  boats  to  sail  across  it.  The water flow  is  turbulent  as  the  floor  of  the  river contains  some  synclines  and  anticlines,  this water  to  have  snaky  motion  of  side  to  side  flow.

Trees  of  all  species  are  found  here   and  do provide  a  good  habitat  to  animals  such  as monkeys,  owls  and  vultures.  The  colubus  monkeys  are  also  not  to  be  omitted  since  they are  among  the  animals  that  inhabit  the  tall, bushy,  dark  trees  which  are  blacker  than  coal when  viewed  from  below.

The  topography  of  our  land  is  hilly  and mountainous  and  thus  livestock  keeping  is  the only  best  economic  activity  which  can  be  done presently.  Keeping  of  domestic  birds  is  an alternative  in  areas  infested  with  worms  and anthills.

Animals  such  as  cows,  goats,  sheep,  camel, horses  and  donkey  are  reared  mostly.  Birds  such  as  duck  and  are  the   domestic  animals  that  are  reared  by  many  folks  in  this  region. Hence,   people  have  decided  to  keep  these animals  as  some  of  them  require  less  space,  low  maintainers  cost  and  requires  food  and water  as  their  basic  needs.

The  animals  are  also  resistant  to  tropical diseases  such  as  rinderpest,  East  coast  fever, and  fowl  typhoid  and  the  mostly  widely contagious  foot  and  mouth  disease.

Watch  out  for  part  two  ( by Boniface maiyani) .Any  suggestions  to  improve  chapter  one  are highly  recommend.  Hope  you  share  this  story  as  we  wait  for  more  chapters.  Thanks  for reading.
